Our Origin Story

It had been getting to us. This labelling of all of us in the ‘silvers’ bracket. The relentless barrage of headlines about the “Silver Tsunami” and the “Silver Economy” felt like a constant assault on our dignity. It’s as if society measures our worth solely by our age, reducing us to a demographic stereotype. The problem isn’t just about midlife being slotted as ‘old’. It’s about painting everyone with the same brush. The lack of understanding of the real issues of midlife. Not seeing or acknowledging any nuance.

Tired of being defined by a single, reductive label, we broke free from the mould and created Not So Silver. We built this exclusive platform specifically for the powerful demographic of Gen X and elder millennials, who are the silent engine driving the Indian economy.

We wish Not So Silver to become a vibrant community that celebrates our Not-So-Silver generation of decision-makers, the ones with the most disposable income and unique experiences and perspectives.

In a world that often dismisses our midlife wisdom and vitality, we stand tall and refuse to be defined by ageist stereotypes.

Here, we celebrate the unique tapestry of our generation, the last to experience life before the digital age and the ones fortunate enough to truly understand patience, shaped by a world that didn’t cater to instant gratification.

Not So Silver, Origin Story Banner

We have journeyed through fantastical worlds through the books we read in our library period. Board games and puzzles taught us strategy, problem-solving, and perseverance. We sometimes climbed atop the roof to tune our antennae just to get uninterrupted time gathered around the television. Our childhoods were marked by long summer vacations with our grandparents and endless lines of cousins we never knew we had. We discovered our first loves and crushes in our ink-stained hands playing F/L/A/M/E/S.

Not So Silver began as a reaction, but it’s really a call to action we gave ourselves. If we didn’t like where the midlife conversation was heading, we had to be the change. We hope to create a place for fresh insights, engaging content, and a supportive community. A place that recognizes the power of our voices and holds space for meaningful discussions. Discussions that reflect our diverse ideas and experiences around health, wellness, relationships, family, personal finances, society, culture, work-life, and career.

Join us as we challenge the status quo and redefine what it means to age gracefully.
